Our Team
After 20 years with Shell Canada, and moving to cities across North America to take on new positions with Shell and its affiliates, Stu moved to Red Deer in 2004 after being offered an executive position with Parkland Industries Ltd (now Parkland Fuel Corporation) where he worked until retiring in 2011. During his Parkland years he became more and more involved in the Red Deer community, particularly through his involvement with A Better World, which is how he met Eric Rajah. At the time, Eric was looking for a partner to work with on the IT side of things because a great deal of Eric’s time was devoted to travelling and working with A Better World. Stu has now found that his roots are here, and through a number of small business enterprises that he is involved with, he has come to appreciate the needs of small business and enjoys building partnerships with the customers we serve.
In 1986 when businesses saw the need to use computers, Eric Rajah started The Computer Training Centre Inc., the first private computer training centre that focused on business users. This training allowed businesses to quickly apply their knowledge in running their computer systems. Advanced Systems started 5 years later after discovering that the business students from his training centre wanted a complete IT package. Today, Advanced Systems provides training, sales, service, and support from its offices in Red Deer, Lacombe, and Stettler.
Eric has also worked in financial management and accounting so he is passionate about helping clients use computer systems to run a profitable business. He has lived in Lacombe since 1978. Candi, his wife, works in the Lacombe office. They have two sons. Eric devotes most of his time to A Better World, a charitable foundation that he co-founded in 1990. The organization does humanitarian work in 14 countries including Canada. He received the Alberta Order of Excellence award in 2012, the highest honour given by the province to a citizen.
